Terms of service
1. Age Verification & Compliance
By placing an order you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older and legally permitted to purchase alcohol in the United Kingdom. It is an offence under the Licensing Act 2003 for persons under the age of 18 to buy or attempt to buy alcohol, or for an adult to purchase alcohol on behalf of someone under 18. Age verification may be required before dispatch and on delivery. Orders may be cancelled if satisfactory proof of age cannot be provided.
Beer Orders: If your order contains alcohol, CANHAUS utilises OneID® at checkout to securely verify your age. This is a non-intrusive, encrypted check to ensure legal compliance.
Merchandise-Only Orders: Orders containing only non-alcoholic items such as glassware or apparel do not require age verification and can be delivered via standard courier protocols, including safe place options if available through the courier.
At Your Door (Alcohol): For any order containing beer, the courier will require a valid photo ID (Passport, Driving Licence, or PASS card) to confirm you are 18 or over.
Challenge 25: If the recipient appears under 25, the driver will ask to verify ID.
No ID, No Delivery: If a valid ID is not provided for an alcohol delivery, the parcel cannot be left and will be returned to the depot.
No Safe Place for Alcohol: Legally, alcohol cannot be left unattended or delivered without a face-to-face age check.
2. Delivery & Contract Formation
Territory: Delivery is strictly restricted to Mainland UK addresses (England, Scotland, and Wales). We do not ship to Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man.
Contract: Our acceptance of your order takes place when we email you to confirm dispatch, at which point a contract will come into existence between you and CANHAUS.
Service: As an online-only retailer and to comply with our licensing terms, we do not offer click and collect or in-person sales from our premises.
Address Accuracy: We cannot be held responsible for failed deliveries due to incorrect address or contact information provided at checkout.
3. Your Crate
Your Crate is our order holding service, allowing you to build your order over time and unlock free shipping when your total reaches £65.
Your Crate is held for a maximum of 60 days from the date of your first order.
You can add to Your Crate as many times as you like within the 60 day period.
When your Crate reaches £65 it will be dispatched automatically via APC Overnight at no extra cost.
Five days before your 60 day limit is up, we will email you to give you the opportunity to top up your Crate.
If your Crate has not reached £65 after 60 days, it will be dispatched automatically and a £7.95 shipping charge will be applied to the card used at checkout. By selecting Your Crate at checkout you are authorising this charge.
Sale items cannot be added to Your Crate. If your order contains a sale item it will be refunded automatically.
Discount codes can be applied to Your Crate orders as normal.
If you would like your Crate shipped before the 60 days or before reaching £65, contact us at hello@canhaus.co.uk and standard shipping charges will apply.
Crates that reach the 60 day limit with no customer response will be shipped and the £7.95 shipping charge applied to the card on file. If the charge cannot be processed, the order will be cancelled and a refund issued for the goods minus any reasonable handling costs.
4. Returns, Refunds & Cancellations
Beer (Perishable Goods): In accordance with UK consumer law regarding perishable items, we do not accept returns on beer once it has been dispatched. All beer sales are final unless the product is damaged or incorrect.
Damaged Goods: If your order arrives damaged, please refuse the delivery or contact us at hello@canhaus.co.uk within 24 hours with a photo of the damage. We will provide a replacement or a refund.
Failed Delivery Costs: If an order is returned to our cellar because of failed age verification at the door or an incorrect address, we will refund the cost of the goods minus the original shipping fee.
Merchandise: Non-perishable items such as glassware and clothing can be returned within 14 days if unused and in original packaging. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.
5. Data, Licensing & Safety
Compliance: We comply with the Licensing Act 2003 and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council regulations. We may share compliance data from our age verification provider if legally required by local authorities or police.
Logistics: To ensure the safety of the product, very large orders typically exceeding 24 cans may be dispatched in multiple boxes. You will receive tracking for each individual parcel.
