Hi everyone! My name is Mario and I'm the founder & owner of CANHAUS.

I moved to the UK from Italy in 2014 and over the last decade I’ve slowly discovered just how incredible the British craft beer scene has become. Coming from a different background, I was blown away by the creativity, the variety, and the community built around a good pint.

That discovery started right here on my doorstep. Spending time exploring the Manchester and surrounding craft beer scene as it started to boom is what really sparked the idea for CANHAUS. I wanted to create a space that celebrates those local roots alongside the bigger icons of the UK and beyond.

My Focus

The shop is built around three simple categories:

• Local Heroes: The breweries on my doorstep in Manchester and Stockport. It’s a mix of the names that originally got me into craft beer and the newer names that are shaking up the scene.
• UK Icons: A broader look at the best of the British scene. This is a balance between the established breweries that continue to set the bar and the upcoming brewers currently making their mark across the country.
• Global Greats: A window on what’s happening in the world of craft beer outside the UK, some really interesting stuff worth trying.

Why "CANHAUS"?

The name is inspired by the Bauhaus movement, the philosophy of functional beauty. I like the idea of stripping away the noise and focusing on the essentials: high quality beer, honest service, and clean design. No filler, just great cans.
